My fiance and I decided to forego a traditional reception because of money. We were both so stressed out about the food and serving and the dances and everything that would go into a normal reception, so we decided to just have a nice ceremony and then maybe have some cake and drinks or something afterwards. The entire wedding should end up being less than an hour and a half.
Is this weird? Are people going to be upset that there’s no food? I just want some reassurance that this isn’t a terrible idea. I don’t even know if I want to set out tables and chairs and decor for the cake itself because it’s going to be so short. I have no idea what people are really expecting; this is a relatively small wedding anyway but I feel like skipping out on food entirely might ruffle some feathers. Any advice or reassurance is very much welcome and appreciated at this point.
