I’m a 30 year old female. About two years ago, I started having occasional pain in the ring finger of my left hand. It’s a sharp, sudden pain almost like the feeling of smashing your finger in a doorway. At first, it only happened once in a while and was usually triggered by minor friction or bumping it.
Over the past year, it’s become more frequent and easier to trigger. Now things like cold water, laying on my left arm, friction, or small movements can set it off.
I’ve had X-rays, an MRI, ultrasound, nerve conduction testing, and bloodwork, but everything has come back normal.
I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder about 3 years ago. Most of the time I only deal with occasional anxiety attacks and stress-related palpitations. I’m wondering if this finger pain could somehow be anxiety-related or worsened by stress, since the pain has gotten worse during a particularly stressful year.
At this point I feel lost and don’t know what else to do or what kind of testing I should be asking for. Has anyone experienced something similar or have ideas on what I should advocate for next?
