I’ve been thinking about picking up some gig work on the side and I’m trying to figure out which app is actually worth my time.
For those of you driving or delivering in the Houston area, which platform leaves the most money in your pocket after gas and expenses? I’m talking real take-home, not just the gross earnings they show on the app.
Some things I’m curious about:
• Rideshare (Uber, Lyft) vs food delivery (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub) vs grocery/shopping (Instacart, Shipt), which category pays better overall?
• Are there specific zones or hours in Houston where one app crushes the others?
• Do you stack multiple apps at once? Which combos work best?
• Any hidden costs or downsides I should know about before signing up?
Would love to hear from people who’ve actually tried more than one. Real numbers are welcome! 🙏
