I life on South Florida. We don’t really do furnaces down here, but boy do we love air conditioning,
Growing up and going to any big box store, you’d think that 1” thick filters are the only option. A few months ago I learned that 4” filters also exist that are (besides thickness and cost) effectively the same thing and way better in every aspect(?).
So, why are 1” filters the default? Why should I not spend some money on a 4” higher MERV filter that I’d need to replace less often and would be better on my blower motor?
