Kiwi.com messed up my name on my booking and now Ryanair wants €121 to fix it… has anyone dealt with this before?
I’m honestly so frustrated right now and wondering if anyone else has been through this.
I booked flights through Kiwi.com only a few days ago and somehow my middle name got imported as my surname on the booking. I’m very careful to place my first and last name so I don’t know what they have done on their end. So instead of showing my actual last name, the reservation basically has my first name + middle name only.
My passport is completely correct and clearly shows my first name, middle name, and surname, so this wasn’t a mistake I made while entering my details.
Now Ryanair is charging me around €121 in “name change” fees just to correct something that seems to have been caused by Kiwi.com’s system. I genuinely can’t believe I’m expected to pay that much for an error that wasn’t even mine.
I’ve contacted Kiwi.com because I think it’s unacceptable that customers are left paying for issues caused by their platform, but I honestly don’t know what to expect from them. I received a generic response from AI I’m not sure that they’re going to action this.
A few questions for anyone who’s experienced something similar:
- Has Kiwi.com ever messed up your name details before?
- Were you able to get them to reimburse the fees?
- Has anyone flown with a booking showing only first name + middle name while the passport had first name + middle name + surname?
- Did check-in or boarding staff actually care or stop you from flying?
Would really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences because this whole thing has completely stressed me out and honestly made me lose trust in booking through third-party sites.
