Have plans to build pc but got recent news that is making me unsure if I should still do it

Hi,

I have been building my pc list for a bit now and have plans to travel soon to which it brings me close to a Microcenter. So I have been super excited for this upgrade. I am coming from a gaming laptop that is just not giving me the full gaming experience id like. It still works but some games dont work well with graphics and it is hard on my eyes. Also my laptop is giving me some elbow pain due to how it is set up. So I am planning to have better ergonomics.

However, I just got news that changes my next 2 years. I got into graduate school from a waitlist to a school that is extremely hard to get into so I thought for sure I had at least another year and a half before considering being in school again but now itll be in 3 months. This schooling will have me move to one location to live for 1 year and then for 8 months I will have to move every 2 months to different locations. After that I can settle down more.

The students of this program still definitely have a life outside of it so I fully expect to be able to game and enjoy my pc but now I am stressed about the moving component.

Is it still safe to upgrade? If so, how bad are OLED monitors for school work? I was told to get an iPad air for note taking which I will do but idk if I should reconsider the oled for my computer even though it wont be the main device I use.

Id mostly be driving to these new locations, no flights if that helps

Quick question on Lian Li UNI SL fans

I am looking to get the white Lian Li UNI fan SL Wireless 120mm ARGB fans and it has a price increase for them to be reverse.

I saw one redditor say that they really like these fans because you can use the normal non-reverse orientation fans and flip them so the backside is facing the inside of the computer as your reverse. Also that because the RGB is not on the fans themselves but it is on the outer part, using the backside does not affect your view of the RGB.

I can see that backside looks slightly different but not terrible so I am considering doing this especially because if I can, it saves me money.

So to double check, is this information correct and I can just flip the normal fans to get a reverse airflow without really affecting the rgb?

I am getting the Lian Li 011 Dynamic Mini V2 ATX Mid Tower Case if that helps.

Thank you for any help!

I want to get the 9800X3D for my first tower pc however, I keep seeing people report it frying. Ive especially seen this with people who have bought them from the microcenter bundle. I myself am looking to buy from microcenter during a trip but I don't want the issue of it frying a few months in. Especially because I dont live near a microcenter and am not super tech savvy myself so solve the issue.

Is it best to stick with getting a 7800x3d instead to be safe or has AMD fixed the issue? Is it worth the risk? Even if I dont buy the security at the microcenter, is there still a warranty on the product with AMD?

Thanks!

Im not tech savvy but I do a lot of research on things which led to this list. My research also leads to some indecision about whether the slight upgrades are worth it for me and which parts are safe to go with.

I am hoping to have a lasting build in which I only need it for mostly gaming with very good graphics and then just school and regular life usage.

I saw the R7 9800X3D is having some issues with getting fried as of recent which is why I chose the 7800x3d.

I may have access to a microcenter this month if I end up traveling which opens up the CPU/MB/RAM bundles but was concerned about the MBs they offer. They only have gigabyte B850 Gaming X WiFi 6E AM5 or Gigabyte X870 Gaming WiFi6 AM5. The one I have on my list seemed to be better than these options based on what I saw.

I want to double check that the power supply I have will be ok. Am I ok with compatibility and everything fitting and working well together? Am I forgetting anything? Do I have enough ports or things like that? Id love to not have any tough surprises when I try to build due to my lack of full understanding of building PCs.

Id like to not go over 3k if I can. This is already more expensive than I thought Id be but I am still ok as long as it is worth it for longevity and good performance.

Thank you!!!

Hi!

Here is my pc part picker list I created. I am still fresh in my research. I made this list with my electrical engineer friend but more eyes on it doesnt hurt!

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3jtCzv

I play games pretty much everyday. I play all sorts of games like rainbow 6 siege, Detroit become human, avatar frontiers of pandora, green hell, rdr2, etc. Id love to have nice graphics so I can enjoy the environments of some games as well as nice response time for shooters.

Further, I do want to be able to do school work and regular life stuff like my financials, youtube, movies, etc. Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of either having many tabs or bookmarks. So far I havent done this with my current gaming laptop but I did it for my school computer and my phone.

I am considering the cpu of amd ryzen 7 7700x but I keep seeing negative things about it in favor of 7800x3d or 7950x.

There is a microcenter 6 hours from me but i have a trip coming that goes in that direction anyways so I thought Id try to make it there for their bundles. They have many bundles with these CPUs. I dont know if their gigabyte motherboards are good and which one is worth it if so.

Idk much about the rest in the list tbh. Im still working through it. Id appreciate any help!

Also, I dont have a tight budget but I will cry if it goes above 3k.
