No one takes a 15 except some of the technicians (who don't take the full 30) at lunch. Everyone is afraid of ruffling the feathers of our staff pharmacist by taking one, so no one does. But here's the thing--that is your right. While I agree that breaks have to be taken intelligently, and that also means staggering them, I don't understand why this very vital policy isn't being followed. It's not just a courtesy; regular breaks is official policy. Not taking a break, leads to resentment, longer than normal & unauthorized "bathroom" breaks, and makes the burnout issue worse because staff feel like management isn't advocating for unmet needs. It shouldn't even be up for debate considering the 'friction' we experience in the pharmacy.

The pharmacist in charge isn't going to be happy, but I'm going to insist on taking breaks at our store--at least for myself. As an employee, it's absolutely a provision of the employee contract (see below) that both you and cvs agreed to during onboarding. Truthfully, two 15s, barely scratches the surface of what the pharmacy needs, but that's not what this post is about. We just had an employee pass in my store, and I have no doubt that stressful conditions in the pharmacy contributed to that. Take your break. You'll do and feel better!
