Somewhat newer painter here, i’ve been painting for about a year or so and have only recently pushed past 2000 pts worth of WE’s painted.
I’ve been wanting to try to paint berzerkers in the black base/red trim style (à la Slaughtergard from warhammer 3), but am struggling to get the red just right, as well as what other colors to throw in there. I’ve done a rough paint job on a couple to experiment with the colors, priming in Wraithbone, using Black Templar for the base and then Khorne red + Crimson suns scarlet (?) for the red.
The picture makes the reds appear a bit brighter than they are; I think the biggest issue is incorporating contrast into what is essentially flat black and red. I feel like this may be a bit too ambitious for where I am as a painter—I have very little experience with NMM painting, but it seems like I would have to go that direction to make these guys really pop.
