What is the best program for drawing large maps?

So I have a layout and a sketch for a map that I've been working with for years but I want a way to draw it in high resolution with the ability to zoom in and still view small details and text at least semi clearly. Most art apps I've used are alright but the details get quite fuzzy upon zooming in and text especially basically becomes unreadable. But I've seen lots of world maps drawn by people and posted on here that are fairly crisp and easy to read. So what are the best methods for creating a detailed map digitally?

A good example of what I'm looking for is this speculative map of the world of Game of Thrones. While not perfect, you are able to fairly easily explore small details and read the text without much trouble (if you download the file that is) https://www.reddit.com/r/gameofthrones/s/ud0xJo0XCn

Does anyone know how this was done or what I can do to achieve similar results?

These are a few of the flags for the world building project I have been working on for a number of years now. It began as just an excuse to mash WW1 and fantasy elements together but has since evolved into a much more complicated project as I have gotten older.

  1. The flag of the Kulbarian Empire: A slowly rising power that has realistically become the most advanced industrial nation on the continent. Each star represents one of the states in the empire as a whole.

  2. Flag of the Kingdom of Falkony (state of Kulbarian Empire): Falkony is an old kingdom that unified the Kulbarians into a single powerful empire - previous flag. As such, they are the dominant state within said empire. If I ever chose to do anything with this world in any sort of official capacity, this is likely where the story would focus as they are the driving force behind the largest militarist empire on the continent. Very Prussian in its overall inspiration.

  3. Flag of the Kingdom of Kaberna (state of Kulbarian Empire): Another one of the more powerful states that makes up the Kulbarian empire. The people here are much more itnerested in the arts and higher education and less so in military endeavors which works out well for them because of their neighbor and sister state - Falkony. Much less developed in my lore but still important, but I'll spare the details for now.

  4. Flag of Florenza: Not entirely sure how I wanna handle this nation yet, but I liked the flag I settled on so it's here too.

  5. Flag of Darsan Harabash: Quite a mysterious and isolated nation formed by a cabal of exiled mad scientists, alchemists, and mages who wanted a place where they could do whatever batshit insane experiments that they wanted without anyone to tell them no. As such, its theorized that they are by far the most advanced state in the world but no one really knows what they are capable of or what they even want.

  6. Flag of the Aurean Federation: Pretty self explanatory. I wanted a stand in for a "united states." But they may not be as free or democratic as they would like you to believe.

  7. Flag of the Grand Duchy of Utavakia: Utavakia in its current state is one of the newest countries on the continent, but its roots and people are centuries old. Having once been a powerful empire, now reduced to a small power in the grand scheme of things, their people are prideful and desperate to maintain their freedom. Their delicate position between 3 great powers who all distrust one another has made their longstanding neutrality quite precarious.

All in all, if you have any ideas of tips for how to improve these designs please let me know. I'm happy to answer any questions as well, but the lore is all over the place because after 6 years, things are constantly shifting and being redone.

This is an enlisted rank insignia chart that I made several years ago for a previous world building project. I haven't decided if I want to update it for use in my current project, but I figured I would share it anyway to get some people's thoughts or provide some inspiration. Originally it was for a science fiction setting and obviously closely resembles the insignia in the US Army, which I am quite familiar with, but I am considering updating it and making it more suitable for a WW1 era setting instead.

I have been working on a world building project for going on 6 years off and on. Primarily, I have been working on it just for the sake of doing it, so it has heavily reflects my real world historical interests - mostly WW1 history. Because of this, my world map is heavily inspired on the real world, though not exactly the same, and it differs where it needs to. I've wondered what other people's opinion on this decision is though? I mostly see the map as a vessel in with which I can sustain a more interesting setting, but I can also understand the opinion that it is a lazy approach to be able to hand wave away and say "well this is basically Africa." What do you guys think? Should maps and geography be whole original or is a similar geography to Earth something that you don't see as an issue?
