Mower spent yesterday afternoon cozied up to the tractor and planter that was parked next to the barn, today it decided it wanted to be a tractor too!
Joking aside, this one got lucky. Fifty feet behind it is a paved county road. Definitely need to have a “remote rescue” option that lifts the deck up 100% and gives you 15 seconds of control at a time or something like that.
Well, I’ve managed to not have any significant mechanical issues on both of the one plus units I’ve got until today. One of the units is at my aging parent’s place (~4 miles away) and got a call that it was leaving weird lines in the yard and dad thought one of the blades had locked up.
Anyway, pretty easy to see the shoulder bolt fell out of the right hand lift/deck mounting position. It’s been mowing for probably six hours (three cycles) so highly doubt I’ll be finding that any time soon.
Taking it to the shop tomorrow (I run a machine shop) and will see what the replacements are thread, length, diameter and such and I’ll throw it in a reply here if anyone else ever has the deck decouple from the main body/lift.
Locktite, jam nut, or just a basic nylon lock nut would have probably been all it needed.
