Side effects of Gabapentin lingering after stopping

Hey all, this is the first time I’m posting here and I’m posting for my mom (73F). She has type2 diabetes, for which she uses ozempic, and had neuropathy in her feet because of the diabetes and she started using gabapentin for that. However she started seeing some side-effects, mainly impaired coordination and balance especially during standing up, getting up etc. so she quit gabapentin by tapering. it’s been 3 months since she’s been off them by now, but she didn’t see much improvement in impaired coordination and balance which seems weird because the drug should have been out of her system by now. the coordination issues might as well be related to age, but the timing and the intensity of onset seemed suspicious to me.

I wanted to ask if anyone else had similar experiences with gabapentin and I wanted to ask if there is anything she can do to improve these? I’m curious to hear the thoughts and experiences of the community.

ps. For neuropathy she started using benfotiamine 300mg daily and says it helps her.
