Hey everyone,
I started as an ASM in February this year and honestly I’ve been feeling dumb all the time. I’m an internal partner and have been with Starbucks for 5 years, so I thought the transition would feel a bit smoother, but becoming an ASM has been way more overwhelming than I expected.
I feel like there’s so much to keep track of, especially with admin time, planning, and all the behind-the-scenes responsibilities that I never really saw before as a barista/SSV. Sometimes I feel like I’m constantly behind or missing something.
My biggest struggle right now is figuring out how to actually plan and structure my admin time so I can stay on top of everything without feeling scattered. My trainer is also really unapproachable, so I don’t feel super comfortable asking questions or getting guidance there.
For any ASMs/SMs here — how did you get organized when you first started? How do you break up your admin time and prioritize what needs to get done? Any systems, routines, or advice that helped you feel more confident would really help.
Just trying to figure this out and not feel like I’m failing at it every day. Thanks.
