A vison for new Potencial project for the new Steam Controller for plugins - TheCluster
Hey there! I would like to introduce you to my recent idea, of having a software (like decky) but for the, not yet released, new Steam controller (2). Software called TheCluster.
I would like having a controller for multipurpose uses, like working on multiple different devices with different OS, being used like a remote to something (as it should have IR diodes) and much more, because it has a lot more hardware and software features.
The thing i would like to make is basically having a separate software for the controller, so you could customize it however you want and do whatever you want it to do/you want to use it for, and because it has hardware that other controllers (mostly) don't have (like 2 haptic trackpads, 4 back-buttons IR diodes, gyro for aiming and much more that can be used for a lot of different uses/stuff, so it has a lot of potencial that can be used. I know that it's not out yet as we don't even knoe the price yet (in the time of writing this at least).

I also fot some ideas for a few, what I think are good/useful plugins rhat can be developed for the new steam controller:
- Plugin that can make the controller work on different devices, with different operating systems without any external hardware (without coping drivers/keys for connections as thats not good/allowed of course),
- Plugin that allows you to customize the trackpads and the haptic feedback/vibration feedback to your needs and different uses (like the controller telling you're low on HP or a NPC/player running by with vibrations/haptic feedback),
- Plugin for controlling external aplications (like spotify), so you could pause & play or basically control other running aplications without putting them onto your screen/opening them,
- Plugin for people to be able play one handed and more accessibility options for people that simply cannot play games normally (so i want them to be able to play like anyone else, so they can enjoy stuff they normally wouldn't be able to),
- Plugin for the controller to be able to switch to different profiles/settings once a game is open (so you could have a different profile for every game you play),
- A so called " battery-saver" plugin for saving some battery percentage if your controller ever runs low, on battery and you might not currently have a way of charging it, but you still "I'm just gonna play one more game and that's it!" I would like to introduce you to the customizable battery saver that you can tell that you want to save some battery, let's say by lowering the haptic/vibration feedback (if it's gonna save some battery of course, which i think it will),
A bit about me: I’m a visionary and architect for this project. I’m not a senior/pro developer, but I’m here to organize all of it, design the UI concepts, and build the community (with others of course). I believe that if we start the project (TheCluster) now, we can have a app for people ready the moment the hardware drops.
I don't have a Discord server or GitHub repo set up yet (I wanted to see if there's any interest in this first), but if this sounds like something you'd want to contribute to or use, let me know in the comments so we can start building it now.
I would like to hear some feedback about my little project/idea as I don't even know if all of this is even gonna be possible, and i would like to hear from you, the community some new ideas for new plugins/stuff.
I would also like to make a store for the plugins so users can simply one-click install plugins for the controller (like decky for the steam deck).

I'm just a fan trying to make our hardware more open and more fun to use. I am just giving these disclaimers so I/we have no problems and we can keep building this amazing stuff!
