Creepy guy at 7/11 kept asking personal questions and talking about making me “famous”— am I overreacting?
So tonight I went to 7/11 late at night to get a slushy before heading home. I was exhausted and honestly not fully thinking straight.
While I was paying, this older guy that I noticed was a street sweeper started randomly talking to me. At first he asked if I liked sports and what sports I watch. I said no. Then he noticed my high school sweatshirt and started asking what year I graduated, what sports I played, and even how old I was. I said it was my older sisters and I said no to some of the questions and tried to keep my answers short, but he kept pushing the conversation.
Eventually I admitted I dropped out of high school (which I regret saying now), and then he started asking:
if I like videos, if I want to “be in one”, saying he could “make me famous”, if I make videos online, if I was going back to school. Which I said no to all.
I also mentioned I’m currently working on my GED because I was tired and just answering automatically to get through the interaction. Then he asked if I needed help with it.
The entire time the cashier looked visibly uncomfortable but didn’t say anything. Eventually one of the guy’s friends came in and said they needed to leave. As he walked out he said something like “Hope your GED goes well,” and then mumbled something that sounded like “sexy” or something weird like that.
The thing that creeped me out most is I genuinely felt like he was waiting to see what car I got into afterward. Luckily he left before I walked out.
What made it worse is after I told my female friend about it, she said earlier some random guy was eyeing her hard while she was just sitting in her car.
Now I’m sitting here replaying the whole interaction feeling stupid for oversharing basic info and not shutting the conversation down harder. Part of me thinks I’m overreacting and part of me thinks my gut was warning me for a reason.
Would this creep anyone else out or am I just being dramatic because it was late at night?
