Question about cover letter for Italy | Applying from Mumbai Consulate (Ahmedabad VFS)
We are applying for Italy here are our details before I ask the question:
- Appointment date - 25th May 2026
- Travel dates - 12th to 24th October 2026
- Applicants - Self + Wife (wife shown as sponsored travel with husband)
- Purpose - Honeymoon
- Consulate - Mumbai
- City of application (VFS) - Ahmedabad
- Wedding - January 2026
- Cash deposited to support the trip received from the wedding - Feb 2026
The main question is regarding the financial anomalies that maybe flagged.
- I maintain 2 separate accounts - Salary account with Axis bank, HDFC bank as an operational account. All the extra fund that I carry is always deployed within Axis. Each month's salary is immediately transferred to HDFC to run the day to day and EMIs and bill payments - A short explanation for that.
- The first flag is before adding the cash I had received from the wedding my Axis bank account was 0 balance - the main reason was that the wedding fund that was deployed was used to make the payments after the wedding in February 2026
- A short para explaining the source of cash
- HDFC bank account in March had a closing balance of only 400 rupees owing to the fact that March saw a deduction of close to INR 40,000 in TDS alone for which I have my salary slip as an evidence and TDS sheet to support that claim - I have explained this as well.
- We will also INR 2 lakhs coming in from our parents to support our honeymoon as a gift which is yet to be credited to the account. A placeholder for that is also mentioned.
- My wife transferred some sum to my account owing to her savings which I have explained
My question is that the cover letter becomes a bit lengthy with these explanation (2 pages of information and page 3 covers the documents I have attached with the application). Dilemma is -
Without these explanations my application looks very weak and has a chance of rejection - Large cash deposit before the appointment, near 0 closing balance of the operational account. These 2 points alone makes it look like I have a weak profile. Should I continue with a 3 page cover letter? Or should I maintain a separate annexure explaining these financials but chances are that the consulate will not read that. I am attaching the page that has explained all of this the total length is coming to 4 pages.
