AITA- Yelled at my son's soccer team.
So my son is 10 and on a soccer team. I’ve never been part of a team that allows kids to act the way these kids act. They yell at the refs- full on screaming at them if they don’t like the call which a lot of times is for pushing because they act like they’re playing football and lay out kids on the opposite team repeatedly. The refs are high school students.
It’s been escalating throughout the season getting more and more. The coach has never addressed it. At the last game it was CONSTANT throughout the first half and I was appalled. Finally, at the beginning of the 2nd half when I’d heard the coach not address it purposefully (all he said was “I know the calls aren’t going our way” I yelled onto the field “YOU BOYS NEED TO SHOW GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP!!” It stopped after that and they just played soccer. Until they subbed and one of the boys started it and I yelled “KNOCK IT OFF!” After that nobody screamed at the refs.
So- AITAH for yelling at my sons soccer team on the field?
Quick clarification- I did address kids behavior in the parent group and with the coach already. There were zero responses. I also am the last person that anyone wants coaching their kids- I can barely walk without tripping and know nothing about sports. LOL
