20 Years of Samsung Loyalty Tested by My S24 Ultra’s Persistent One UI 8.0 Freezing Issue
Hello r/samsung / r/GalaxyS24,
I’ve been a dedicated Samsung user and supporter for over 20 years, having owned nearly every flagship since the early Galaxy S series. Unfortunately, I’m now facing a persistent and frustrating problem with my Galaxy S24 Ultra that has significantly impacted my daily use.
The device, purchased from Altex Romania and still well within its warranty period, freezes randomly. During these episodes, apps become unresponsive, the keyboard disappears, and the screen no longer registers touch input — even the on-screen restart option is ignored. The only way to recover is a forced reboot. I have documented this behavior on video multiple times.
I have already sent the phone for warranty service twice. Both times it was returned without a proper fix, and the random freezing continued. This often causes me to miss important work calls, as the phone becomes completely unreachable during these episodes.
I’ve tried everything on my end: factory resets, setting the phone up both with and without restoring my backup, different settings tweaks, and more. The issue persisted in all scenarios.
After escalating the matter, Samsung Romania recently contacted me. Their final position is that they will not provide any further solution or replacement. This is especially disappointing given that the device is still under warranty and my long-standing loyalty to the brand.
After extensive testing, I finally identified the root cause: the freezing started right after the One UI 8.0 update and matches reports from other users experiencing the same random locks and unresponsiveness.
I’m truly disappointed with how this has been handled. Here are two short videos showing the exact issue in action. *not a screen protector issue *tried clearing home app cache (not a long term solution) *not a touch issue -home app fails *wiped multiple times -factory reset and in meniu wipe cache *no backup start
