Deck Help - Voltron & Friends

Hi, all! If you're a person who enjoys giving deck support, I'd like to introduce you to my deck, Cursed Compost. It was the first EDH deck I built, back in 2018 I think? Its main strategy is Voltron, with [[Skullbriar, the Walking Grave]] as the commander. The original deck was very much an "all eggs in a single basket" type deck - the deck fell apart if my commander was taken offline. I'm attempting to take a wider approach this time around, and invest into a token/sac outlet subtheme now.

  • Commander: Skullbriar is still my main Voltron target, but now the deck has a collection of alternative targets to fall back on if he is somehow locked away from me. They all function great as Voltrons in their own right, I feel.
  • Edits: The previous iteration of the deck focused exclusively on Skullbriar, so when I attacked I was left wide open. To address this, I'm dipping into pest token generation. This serves multiple functions: I will get a large board presence/chump blockers, lots of tokens to sac for added value onto my Voltron, life gain, and an alternate win-con; I could use something like [[Fungal Sprouting]] or [[Tend the Pests]] to sac Skullbriar and get an army of tokens to swing at my opponents.
  • Combos: I can only spot a single potential combo in my deck: I can sac [[Woodfall Primus]] with [[Viscera Seer]] to scry, which triggers Woodfall's Persist ability: it comes back with a -1/-1 counter. But if I have [[Gorma, the Gullet]] out, Woodfall gets a +1/+1 counter, which removes the -1/-1 counter and allows Woodfall to use his Persist ability again, for infinite scry and +1/+1 counters on Gorma.
  • Win-Cons: Pump up a Voltron target with lots of counters (mostly +1/+1) and swing for lethal or commander damage, if Skullbriar is my Voltron. OR, sac a huge creature to generate a pest/saproling army. OR, use [[Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord]] to sac a huge creature and deal lethal damage to all my opponents.
  • Help: I'm a bit low on card draw; Golgari has some nice card draw like [[Sign in Blood]] or [[Night's Whisper]], but the problem is that all the other cards in my deck feel too important to get rid of. I'm also not confident that my pest/saproling token engine is large enough to make use of; the cards that give me lots of tokens have high CMC, so I'm worried I won't even be able to make use of it until late game, which undermines my plan to use it as a chump wall in the early game.
  • Build Considerations: I don't really want to leave bracket 3. Low 4 is okay I suppose, considering I have a potential combo in my deck. That said, I don't have much interest in spending egregious amounts of money on my deck. The Ozolith was a special exception. I don't tend to spend over $10 on a card, so staying within that range would be preferred. [[Shadowspear]], [[Delighted Halfling]], and [[Kodama of the West Tree]] are incredible but too rich for my blood, at least for now.

My deck list can be accessed HERE. I appreciate your help!

I've never been a "phasmo needs to stay exactly like this forever" player. I like updates. I like that the game is getting fresh, new models and graphics. New maps, new gameplay, new ghosts. It's feeling more and more like a polished game instead of a proof of concept. I've always chuckled at the players who throw a fit every time the devs do something new, crying about the march of progress.

But this update stinks. I really like the new death animation, and I think the new character models are beautiful! But the hand and wrist models are absolute garbage; the characters are holding items as if they've never had fingers before and are still figuring out how to use them. The customization menu is janky AF. The fact we have to look at the flashlight during the entire game is asinine, and if you think you can get around it by using a headlamp, that's busted as well. Your hands and head move together with the camera while your arms just kind of trail behind like a freakish marionette puppet.

It's all a mess, and it sucks considering how loud they've been about assuring us they were going to be careful with this new update.
