I’ve been wearing the wrong sizes for years. Calculator says 30DD, looking for a bra that fits.
First of all, I’m so grateful that I found this subreddit. I’ve been reading and learning a lot over the past few months and it’s crazy to me that this isn’t being taught universally (especially when it comes to fittings).
I’m 23 and I’ve spent a decade wearing the wrong sizes. I’ve worn 32/34Bs, 32/34Ds, 32DDs, 32/34Cs, and so on. I got so frustrated at how many sizes I was being given that I essentially favoured sports bras to avoid the hassle. Luckily, stumbling upon this wonderful place has given me hope to try again.
Measurements (inches):
Loose Underbust: 30
Comfortable Underbust: 29
Tight Underbust: 27
Bust Standing: 34
Bust Leaning: 35
Bust Lying: 33
When I did the calculator, it gave me a 30DD. After doing some digging, this makes sense to me. Some of the issues I’ve identified with bras I’ve worn is that the straps feel too tight (which I think is probably because the band is too big and therefore straps are overcompensating), and the cups both feel too big and too small at the same time; I’ve experienced gaps in the cups while also somehow spilling over the top.
I’ve looked into shapes and I’m pretty sure I’m shallow with wide roots, center full and even vertically (evenly FoB & FoT). My breast tissue extends taller (almost up to my collarbone) so I know I have to be careful with the cups closing too soon. Because of the center fullness, I’m really prone to spilling out the center of my bras, which is honestly the biggest issue I’m having at the moment alongside spilling at the sides.
I’m looking for recommendations that might work for me. I wear a lot of scoop neck tops so I prefer bras that don’t come up too high.
I’m in Canada and shipping can get quite expensive sometimes, so anything that might be accessible here would be great, though I’m open to all options. I’m still learning a lot and I’ll take all the advice and assistance I can get. Thank you all in advance for the help!
