Hayır, öyle değil! Doğuların ve batıların Rabb'ine yemin ederim ki kesinlikle Bizim her şeye gücümüz yeter;

Mearic suresi 40. Ayet.

  1. Soru: Doğuların ve Batıların Rabbine yemin eden kim?

  2. Soru: Doğuların ve Batıların Rabbi kim?

  3. Soru: Bizim herşeye gücümüz yeter diyenler kim?

Müslümanlardan cevabını alamadım.

In Turkey, being an atheist is like being a ghost in your own home; you are seen only when you represent a threat to the 'status quo,' and ignored the rest of the time. While the law might not explicitly criminalize our thoughts, the society we live in operates on a silent, brutal code of conformity. From the moment you are born, Islam is pre-installed on your identity like a permanent scar, and trying to remove that label is seen not as a choice, but as a betrayal of your blood and soil.

In our daily lives, we are forced to wear masks of hypocrisy just to survive. In the workplace, we hide our lack of faith to avoid being labeled 'unreliable' or 'immoral,' knowing that the moment our secret is out, we become the first targets for layoffs or social isolation. Our careers are often capped by a 'religious ceiling' that no amount of merit can break. In our families, the wound is even deeper. We lead double lives, attending prayers we don't believe in and reciting verses that feel hollow, just to prevent our mothers' hearts from breaking or our fathers from disowning us. We are 'loved' only as long as we remain shadows of who we truly are.

On the streets, the tension is palpable. During Ramadan, a simple glass of water can become a reason for a lynch mob in the wrong neighborhood, and in politics, 'atheist' is a slur used interchangeably with 'terrorist.' We live with a constant, low-humming anxiety, knowing that one 'blasphemous' thought shared on social media can lead to a prison cell or a ruined life. As Mehmet Mirioğlu brilliantly exposes in The Alphabet of God, we are trying to decode the universe through the lens of logic while surrounded by those who have weaponized ignorance. We aren't just fighting for the right to think; we are fighting for the right to exist in a world that refuses to acknowledge our humanity. To be an atheist here is to be the only person awake in a room full of sleepwalkers who are convinced that anyone with their eyes open is the enemy.

The universe is so much more spectacular when you realize we are actually part of it, not just some external creation. We are literally 'star stuff' trying to understand itself. To me, that is far more poetic and inspiring than any ancient myth. Reality doesn't need a supernatural layer to be beautiful.
