"Schwiegies"
Hi,
I am wondering if it's customary in Switzerland that people continue to use the expression "my Schwiegies" (which means "my in-laws", correct?) even after the two partners broke up, and each moved on to a new relationship?
In your culture, is this considered respectful towards the new partners?
I understand that people may sometimes prefer to maintain a friendly relationship with their ex's family, fair enough. However - if you're keen on using labels - why not choose one that reflects current family dynamics (i.e. does not imply an ongoing relationship with your ex)?
Thanks,
