Can my ex be a guarantor for my tenancy on UC
I’m really stressed and hoping someone has been through something similar.
I have 3 children and recently my relationship broke down. We used to live with his mum, but she is ill and he stayed there to help care for her. Me and the kids are staying somewhere else right now.
I’m trying desperately to find a place to rent but almost everywhere wants a guarantor. I have no family here and nobody else who can do it. My ex said he would be my guarantor if needed because he knows I have nowhere to go with the kids.
My worry is Universal Credit might think we are still together if they see he is my guarantor on the tenancy agreement, even though we are completely separated and living apart.
I’m not trying to do anything wrong, I just need somewhere safe and stable for me and my children. Has anyone dealt with this before or knows if it causes problems with UC?
