I genuinely liked the last guest remake but as an annoying military enthusiast I poked holes in the entire story.
Why are they wearing marine helmets but army camouflage?
Why aren’t the bacons still not wearing helmets even though it’s been like 8-7 years since the last movie and they’re in a war that would absolutely call for helmets.
Other than that I have my criticisms and my praises.
Like- I didn’t like how fast paced the new one is? The entire thing is faster than Usain Bolt in its animation. But it’s not fluid and amazing? Plus it felt a little insincere? Like a movie that was good in the 80s being remade for a modern audience in the 2020s.
But I did like the dedication to making new characters and fleshing out scenes that otherwise didn’t have anything more than being canon.
They reworked the combat scene, gave the characters that otherwise wouldn’t have any real identity actually have something to do? Like guests dad fighting back, and guest and daisy talking and introducing themselves to each other, or guests parents genuinely having a part in the story instead of just getting king von’ed the second they get introduced. Or the orphanage lady being an actual character who helped save the guest and his friends? The wedding was a few seconds, so was charlottes entire life lmao.
I won’t get too into the military part since I tend to get insufferable.
But I do wanna talk about the recruitment scene? Whenever guest decides to join the army.
In the new one he’s drunk, irresponsible, and decides he wants to get back at the jerks who ruined his life. Good for him?
But in the old one he wanted to do something since he was young and heard “we could use your help someday?” He joined for a similar reason but he wasn’t drunk and knew what we was doing.
I don’t know.. do I have a good point?
