Jerry

Jerry had no idea what to do. These two things busted into his shop, played the sickest bass he had ever heard, then went into the closet and leaned against the wall. They looked like they were in a coma, unresponsive, with their eyes open.

Jerry had no idea what to do, so he did what came naturally, he rolled up a special cigarette, rolled down the blinds of the shop, locked the door, grabbed a beer, and pondered his life decisions.

Khn and Klek

They re-animated simultaneously just as always. Opening the portal they saw that the structure was dark inside and outside. The primitive humanoid appeared to be shut down, but peculiarly was laid on the floor. More odd behavior from this species.

They looked around for the equipment again. This time Khn picked up equipment with six resonators instead of four. It wasn’t plugged in, so Khn was becoming more dissatisfied with the results by the second.

The primitive humanoid re-animated suddenly appearing shocked at what was going on.

As Khn became more dissatisfied with the results the humanoid once again intervened. He attached the equipment to a small loud box and demonstrated to Khn how to use a small tool against the resonators.

The Frequencies that Khn was making now were incredible. Not quite like their more sophisticated equipment, but close enough to bring satisfaction. Klek, however, needed an outlet. Hearing Khn make The Frequencies made him need to participate, but he had no equipment. While flailing his arms he accidentally struck a gold metallic disk next to him. The vibration it gave Klek was mesmerizing and soon he was smashing the disk in-time with Khn’s Frequencies.

The humanoid seemed slightly uneasy. He gently moved Klek behind the disk, and bent his body unnaturally so his weight was not on his feet. This made Klek incredibly uneasy as Zhykhnletti almost never didn’t stand on their feet.

The humanoid then handed Klek two hard organic tools about as long as his nose. He demonstrated striking different disks both metallic and non-metallic to make different Frequencies. He also demonstrated to Klek how to use his feet to strike different disks. Within minutes Klek was making frequencies that perfectly meshed with Khn’s. The amount of Genki filling the room was unlike anything he had ever felt before. The feeling of satisfaction that Klek was experiencing was addictive. Khn and Klek stopped making The Frequencies and gave each other the sign of the Trorder.

Jerry

This was completely unsustainable. For over a week these two beings had been jamming out in the shop for 14 hours a day only pausing to shut down in the closet for a few hours, then getting back at it. Jerry moved them into the studio in back and cleared out the closet back there for them.

Strange vehicles were now all over the small hamlet of Saguenay. In this small town they stuck out like sore thumbs. They were questioning anyone that they could find, and rumor had it was that a large area of Saguenay Fjord National Park was barricaded off, and traffic up and down Route 170 was completely closed.

Jerry knew that this wasn’t exactly a coincidence with the naked polka dotted beings playing otherworldly rock music in his studio. He felt a need to protect them, but also… he had to share this music. This was the most incredible thing he had ever heard, and he couldn’t keep it to himself.

After much smoking, some drinking, and a little micro-dosing Jerry came to the conclusion that he needed help.

Cue Chest Pains. Not a heart attack, but Chest Pains was Jerry’s band. They had some minor commercial success 15 years ago some of their music was sampled for some commercials, and they still got some airplay that got them some residuals, but getting less every single year. They still played one or two festivals a year, but the sets kept getting shorter, the font on the flyers smaller, and the checks barely covered the expenses.

When Jerry called for help the three other guys Chad (lead singer), Smitty (guitar), and Thurston (drums) came from all over Canada (Montreal, Abbotsford, and St. Johns respectively) to help.

Two days later he had them all assembled in his shop.

“Listen guys” he started, “you’re absolutely not going to believe what I have to show you. Just promise me you won’t panic, and please… please… don’t tell anyone”.

They all nodded and gave some platitudes, but were more worried about their friend than anything else.

Jerry led them to the studio, and there was… nothing. The guys looked at each other.

“Bro.” Chad started, “are you ok. This is kind of worrisome….” He was interrupted by a sound that resembled a dial up modem mixed with undertones of a garbage disposal.

The closet door opened to the two beings entering the room. The pyramid headed one picked up his new instrument, a combination microtonal guitar and bass on one frame, and started getting warmed up.

Jerry had slowly been adding accessories to their setup, and now the pyramid headed one was operating the guitar, bass, looping pedals, distortion pedals, there was nothing he couldn’t handle. The cylinder headed one now had a huge drum kit and was singing along in a way that was completely not understandable, but as melodic as you can make a fax machine. It sounded oddly amazing.

After a few minutes they stepped out of the studio into the hallway. Smitty started “That is absolutely amazing and terrifying. Where the fuck did they come from.”
“I don’t know.” Jerry replied. “They are awesome and weirdly friendly in their own way, but I’m scared to death of keeping them here. There’s Feds everywhere, and I don’t know what they’ll do if they find them here. At the same time… the world needs to hear this.”

Khn and Klek

After multiple light/dark rotations Khn and Klek had almost completely restored all of their Genki. The familiar humanoid seemed to love The Frequencies, and kept bringing them more equipment. Incorporating each new piece into the creation of The Frequencies brought them ever more satisfaction.

Eventually three more unfamiliar humanoids appeared in The Frequency chamber… Making The Frequencies in front of these new humanoids created a different type of Genki, and were making them, Khn in-particular, feel things that were strange and outside the realm of the three feelings.

It was bringing them satisfaction. There was no unease around these humanoids. If they could have felt the feeling of being grateful, they would have.

Chest Pains

In the usual Chest Pains decision making process there was much smoke and drink. Eventually a plan was formed. Chest Pains was scheduled to play the Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts in two weeks. It was more of a favor to Chest Pains from their old friend Nels Cline as there wasn’t much of a demand for them anymore. The guys were considering making this their last gig.

However, this would be their only opportunity to get this music directly in front of people, and maybe.. just maybe, the government wouldn’t make them disappear once they were seen by so many people.

There was a lot of prep that needed to be done. First of all… the naked bodies, lack of genitals, and oddly shaped heads might be a real issue, and clue people into the fact that this band wasn’t from around here. The guys got some sheets and painted them in polka dots to not ruin the aesthetic. Next they made some mask/helmet things out of paper mache that would cover the beings heads and giant noses.

The cylinder headed one was particularly difficult as it really wanted its nose to swing with the music as some type of time keeping apparatus. Eventually a polka dotted sock was used over both noses… it would have to work for now.

Transporting them across the border was going to be an issue. Not only could they not speak and had no documentation, they were too tall and heads were too big to fit in any of the vehicles. That combined with their incredible dislike of sitting made everything extremely complicated.

There were problems that needed to be overcome.

Khn and Klek

The humanoids were preparing for something, but Khn and Klek didn’t know what it was. Oddly, for some reason, they trusted them. They were so gentle and gave them so much of their Genki everyday that Khn and Klek let them put material on them while they created The Frequencies. It was an odd sensation to be covered for the first time, but this seemed to be the way the humanoids all operated.

A few light/dark rotations later the Genki felt different. The humanoids were particularly in tune with The Frequencies and Khn and Klek created The Frequencies for much longer than usual.

The rest chamber was incredibly welcoming.

Chest Pains

Today was the day…. The costumes were ready. The beings seemed comfortable wearing them. Thurston had gone to St. Johns and gotten his LeBaron convertible. The truck and trailer were loaded up with all the equipment needed for the gig.

They had been practicing handling the beings when they were shut down. It seemed like you could handle them pretty easily for six or seven hours if they hadn’t shut down for a while.

When they went in the closet the guys gave them a few minutes to shut down and then put the plan into action. The two beings were propped up in the back seat of the LeBaron, their feet on the floor, bodies stiff up against the headrest, heads well higher than the windshield.

It was about 4 hours to the border of Vermont. They had to move so the convoy rolled out.

The crossing into Vermont on I-91 was fairly sparse that morning.

The LeBaron went first into the checkpoint. The Border Patrol agent was visibly put off by the sight of the LeBaron with the giant heads. He looked over Thurston and Smitty’s passports.

“What the Fuck are those?” he asked.

“We’re headed to a fashion show.” Thurston replied with an exaggerated lisp. “Those are our mannequins, I designed the clothes. What do you think?”

The agent stepped out of his booth and felt the cylinder headed ones wrist… stiff and cold. He put his hand over its mouth, it wasn’t breathing.

“I’m off this shift in ten minutes, just get out of here…” he said with the look of a man who has been doing the same job for far too long. With that he handed the documents back and waved them through.

The equipment truck had no issues. “Glad I’m not with those Weirdo’s..” Jerry said as he rolled up. The agent didn’t laugh.

Khn and Klek

They re-animated simultaneously, but they were not in the rest chamber. Klek immediately felt incredible unease, but Khn reassured him. The humanoids operating the land craft motioned for Khn and Klek to bend their bodies and rest on the craft, which they both did reluctantly. Klek was slightly more used to this from making The Frequencies in this position.

The feeling of riding the land craft through the warm air brought satisfaction to Khn and Klek. Additionally, the humanoids brought miniature equipment with them. Khn and Klek were able to make The Frequencies for the duration of the trip. The Genki they were absorbing was different, calming. When the land craft reached its destination there were more humanoids of all different shapes and colors than they could ever imagined. This must be one of their gatherings. The humanoids were gathered in a large group watching other humanoids make their version of The Frequencies.

Chest Pains

“I can’t believe we made it.” Jerry exclaimed as they pulled into the loading area. There was still a lot of work to do. They were on in two hours. With all the excitement all the guys were worried that the beings would shut down at the worst possible time. The equipment needed to be set up, this was almost too much for Jerry.

“Jerry, who are these guys?” Suddenly there was Nels standing there looking a slightly confused, but more peeved than anything. This festival was a big deal to him every year, and every bit of added stress didn’t help.

“Nels, these guys are the latest additions to Chest Pains. They absolutely rip. You’re going to have to trust me on this one.”

Nels, having been burned by Jerry before was incredulous. “You’re going to have to explain this to Jeff. He hates surprises.” Over his shoulder as the walked off he added, “Hopefully you’re up before he finds you.”

Fuck.

Khn and Klek

Klek had never felt such unease. He stared out at the sea of humanoids in front of him. The Genki did not feel right. He felt like he needed the rest chamber.

The familiar humanoid appeared beside him. He made noises that Klek obviously didn’t understand, but sounded friendly and reassuring. If Klek could feel love… he may have felt love for the familiar humanoid. Having him next to him made him less uneasy.

The lights went up. The thousands of humanoids focused on Klek. He froze, and then started tapping the metallic disk with the organic tool just like every day they made The Frequencies at the familiar humanoids structure.

Khn knew what to do. Starting with the 4 resonator equipment he started making The Frequencies. He looped in the 6 resonator equipment blending the rhythm’s together in a way not heard by human ears. Klek matched Khn perfectly following the tempo exactly in time and adding his “voice” to the wave of sound washing over the humanoids.

The Genki was incredible. Unlike anything Khn and Klek had ever felt in their existence. The humanoids reacted as one being to The Frequencies jumping up and down in time with Khn and Klek and uttering noises that spurred the two Zykhnletti on.

Khn and Klek were overcome. For the first time in the history of the Zykhnletti Khn and Klek simultaneously gave the Trorder sign to the humanoids, holding their hands in a triangle high above their heads.

The crowd immediately knew what to do, and gave the sign back to them.

Khn and Klek launched back into The Frequencies with all of the energy they could harvest.

Konoheddo

Konoheddo had been in existence longer than any of the other Zykhnletti on the mother ship. The Genki shortage was much more acute than anyone could imagine. It was an existential threat to the Zykhnletti. Konoheddo was personally tasked with training and deploying pioneers to find another source of Genki before it was too late.

This mothership held some of the last reserves of Genki in existence. None of the pioneers had found anything after now about 1.8 revolutions. To make matters worse two of the least promising pioneers Khn and Klek hadn’t made any frequencies with their craft for .008 revolutions and were feared to be non-existent. They only made it to be pioneers because their nurturers who cared for them as neonates were so well regarded. Konoheddo did not know how he would report this back to the Trorder.

The First Officer rotated on his disk towards Konoheddo.

“Eminence we are detecting Genki for the first time… in the direction we sent Khn and Klek. It is a different type of Genki than we have ever seen, but seems to be safe.”

Konoheddo paused… 1.8 revolutions without a single hint of Genki. “Trorder please forgive me for what I am about to do.” Konoheddo thought to himself.

“First Officer. Utilize all Genki reserves. Travel at fastest speed towards the detection…. Superluminal speed is authorized.”

The bridge was silent. If they were unable to refill their Genki they would never make it back to Zykhnklek once they utilized superluminal speed. The Zhykhnletti were brave and followed orders. The mothership accelerated.

Chest Pains

Jeff found Jerry stage right taking in the performance. The duo of beings was making music unlike anyone had ever seen. For 45 minutes straight, they performed with everything they had, the crowd had not stopped cheering them on.

“Who are they?” Jeff asked.

“I don’t know,” Jerry replied, “but I think they are my friends.”

An eerie light slowly crept across the festival, like an eclipse, but with a feeling of foreboding no one could explain.

A giant form emerged from the clouds above the festival radiating an otherworldly light. The two beings on stage froze and looked at each other.

Konoheddo

Superluminal speed bent the time/space continuum and the mothership arrived at the source of the Genki within earth minutes. Konoheddo exited the ship on his disk floating above the crowd in front of the stage.

“Khn and Klek. How have you survived? How are you making these frequencies?”

Klek felt unease like he had never felt before. “Eminence. The primitive humanoids took care of us after our ship… malfunctioned. They have taught us how to use their equipment to make The Frequencies. We sincerely regret having failed the Trorder.”

“Khn. Klek. You are heroes of the Zhykhnletti. We found you due to the massive amount of Genki you have projected across the universe. You have saved our society. We have absorbed enough Genki observing you to last 1000 revolutions. What you have created here is powerful.”

With that all crew of the mothership filled every balcony and window, hundreds floated over the crowd on their disks. They all gave Khn and Klek the triangle sign of the Trorder. Khn and Klek had never felt such satisfaction. If they could have felt happiness… they surely would have at this moment.

Konoheddo then stated “Let us make The Frequencies together for our primitive companions before we go.”

With that the best Frequency makers from the mothership along with Khn and Klek joined together to make The Frequencies with human and Zhykhnletti equipment together. The Genki created by the crowd absorbed into the mothership until it was bursting.

“It is time to depart.” Konoheddo stated. The crew started floating back to the mothership. The ship sent down extra discs for Khn and Klek to ride, but they hesitated. If they could feel sadness right now… they would have, or maybe they… did.

Khn tried to hand the 4/6 resonator back to the familiar humanoid. The familiar humanoid wouldn’t take it. The humanoid gestured to all of the equipment and then to the ship. They understood completely. It was a gift. The familiar humanoid was leaking fluid from it’s face. More odd behavior.

The equipment and the Zhykhnletti levitated towards the mothership. Khn and Klek looked back one last time and gave the familiar humanoid and his companions the sign of the Trorder, and they were gone.

Jerry

The authorities, both American and Canadian hounded him for months. Tore apart his studio and shop. Questioned him over and over. Subjected him to so many tests. Detained him for days at a time. Jerry told them the truth. He didn’t know where they came from. He didn’t know what they were. Somehow, they played great music, and had no genitals.

Eventually he was charged for bringing illegal aliens (literally) into the United States. His attorney got him a plea deal own to a fine as the prosecution was going to have a really hard time finding the aliens in question.

Jerry was in a bad spot. Studio was torn up. He hadn’t been able to work for months, but he was optimistic. He had one more little nugget that he kept to himself.

In a safe deposit box at the Bank of Montreal on 175 across from the Wal-Mart in Saguenay was a hard drive with hundreds of hours of recordings and videos of the only alien band to play on the planet enough for an album every year for a decade. An attorney was quietly shopping this to multiple media companies, and multiple studios wanted to turn his story into a movie.

Jerry, and the rest of Chest Pains was going to do very well in the end.

The only problem was what to call this band… Chest Pains was taken. It is Quebec after all, maybe French?

Angine de Poutrine sounds pretty good.

The craft was non-responsive. No amount of trying to generate The Frequencies was getting a response. It was all Khn's fault. For the 6 Zykhnlek revolutions (79.7 earth years) that they had been paired together Khn had never paid particular attention to the operating limits of the craft. Everything was all about increasing satisfaction, not about safely operating the craft or paying attention to direction from the Trorder.

Khn and Klek had been traveling from Zykhnlek for 1.7 revolutions (22.58 earth years) in search of other advanced humanoid life and new sources of Genki, the energy that fueled all Zykhnletti (the beings of Zykhnklek).

The population of Zykhnklek had plateaued almost 152 revolutions ago. There was only so much Genki available, and as was tradition in Zykhnklekian society, if the population wasn’t expanding they were dying.

Zykhnletti advanced humanoids were all born the same. They had gray skin and unremarkable features. They had a vestigial mouth, but did not eat, they got their energy by absorbing the Genki generated when they attended the Gatherings and created The Frequencies in large numbers. The exact science behind it was never quite understood, but Zykhnletti humanoids knew that there was a fixed amount, it could not be created or destroyed, only harvested by gathering together and making The Frequencies.

Zykhnletti humanoids had no males or females. At around 1.5 revolutions Zykhnletti humanoids started to develop into their adult forms. Staccato Zykhnletti would develop tall cylindrical heads, and a nose that was exactly 7% as long as the length of their body and dangled down. The gray skin would change. The skin of the torso would turn white with black dots. The skin of the head, arms and legs would turn black with white spots.

Tonal Zykhnletti would develop a large head that resembled an upside-down triangle. Their nose, while still 7% the length of their body stuck straight out from their face. Their skin would be the inverse of Staccato Zykhnletti still black and white with opposite colored spot.

Once they were fully developed Staccato and Tonal Zykhnletti would be paired together at The Ceremonies, and stay together, for the duration of their existence. Not really like a marriage, more like a lifetime partnership. If they were selected to raise a neonate Zykhnletti, they would. If they were selected to pioneer, they would. Duty to the Trorder (Triangle Order) was the most important thing in Zykhnletti society. The Trorder would give them their purpose in life, and assign them the tasks needed to continue to expand the Zykhnletti humanoid society.

Khn and Klek were chosen to be pioneers, and after many revolutions of training they were given their craft and a direction to explore. The craft was controlled and was powered by The Frequencies that Khn and Klek created together with their equipment.

Now they were seemingly stranded on this planet, thought to be inhabited by primitive humanoids, with no way to make The Frequencies. Without The Frequencies it was a matter of maybe .001 revolutions (roughly 5 earth days) until they would be out of Genki, and they would surely cease to exist.

Ceasing to exist hadn’t happened to a Zykhnletti in over 1000 revolutions, Klek was not worried about actually ceasing, it was said that the process was actually enjoyable, he was worried about the immense amount of shame it would bring his clan forever. He had to survive. They had to survive. Khn, as usual, was experiencing much less unease about the situation they had found themselves in.

How to survive was another problem altogether. The craft was stranded amongst a dense area of tall silent beings that seemed alive yet stuck in place. More disconcerting was the sounds of what Klek assumed were hundreds, possibly thousands, of other beings more primitive than the humanoids they believed to be on this orb. The mere thought of life more primitive than these humanoids made him feel incredibly uneasy.

The sky was dark with the exception of a slight glow on the horizon in one direction. Staying with the craft until the Genki was depleted was not an option. For better or worse both Khn and Klek knew that going in that direction was the only choice.

Bipedal locomotion was not a common mode of transport for the Zhykhnletti. They were taught this skill when they were training to be pioneers, but it was extremely rare to use on Zykhnklek. Long journeys were done via craft, and everyday transportation was done via transport disks. Transport disks ran on Genki, just like everything else, and there was hardly ever a reason to leave your disk. Standing on your disk, and making The Frequncies would move it along to wherever you wanted it to go. Rest chamber, gatherings, being maintenance areas (bathing) were all done on your disk. The Zhykhnletti spent most of their lives in the standing position on their disks floating where they needed to go.

Moving through the uneven ground amongst the silent beings was incredibly slow. If Khn and Klek were able to feel frustration they would have been frustrated, but frustration was not one of the three feelings that Zhyknletti could experience. They could only experience satisfaction, unease, and dissatisfaction all to varying degrees. Extreme satisfaction was the rarest of feelings, no pending direction from the Trorder, full Genki, and all equipment in working order would bring satisfaction.

Right now. Moving through the silent beings, dissatisfaction and unease were weighing heavy on Khn and Klek.

After many earth-hours of locomotion the sky was starting to turn light with a magnitude of different colors not seen on Zykhnklek. If awe was an emotion they could have felt, they would have felt it, however, the colors and light did slightly reduce their unease.

They came out of the silent beings into a clearing with a long, raised patch of earth. Climbing to the top they realized it was covered in some sort of hard yet porous and rough material. The material ran off into the distance in two directions. One direction headed approximately towards where the glow on the horizon was when it was dark. Bipedal locomotion on this surface seemed preferable to going through the silent beings, so it was agreed to travel on this new surface.

More earth hours later and they felt a disturbance, and a craft passed by them extremely closely… running along the ground. Khn and Klek had never seen such a thing. It required so many more parts and complexity to travel on the hard surface, yet seemed extremely primitive. Did these humanoids not know how to use their Genki for flotation? The thought brought them extreme uneasiness.

The craft stopped shortly after passing them, and they had their first encounter with the humanoids of this planet. The humanoid exited the craft and started bipedal locomotion in their direction. It was making loud utterances and animations with its limbs. The humanoid stopped a short distance away. The humanoids skin quickly changed color to a much lighter shade and it quickly moved back to the craft. The craft resumed motion extremely loudly, and moved away from them at a much higher rate of speed. The encounter brought uneasiness to Khn and Klek, but there was nothing to be done about it.

After many more earth hours of walking the scenery was beginning to change. There were boxy structures in the distance with crafts close by them. Two more times crafts passed them closely, but they did not stop. One craft passed by extremely slowly with all the humanoids inside staring at them silently. They ranged is size and shape from round and large to small and skinny. Every humanoid seemed to have different features and colors. It was told to them in training that primitive species were still evolving to their most optimal design leading to lots of variation through the beginning stages of their evolution. Based on how much variation they were witnessing, the craft was leaning to one side as one was so big, it was concluded that this species must be very early in its evolution.

The density of the structures increased exponentially. The humanoids seemed more numerous, but they were quickly retreating inside their structures.

The bipedal locomotion was using much more Genki than either Khn nor Klek could have imagined. If they couldn’t find a way to make The Frequencies or find another source of Genki soon they were going to be in serious trouble.

Then they heard it… something like The Frequencies, but not quite. They moved towards the structure and could see through the clear wall that there was an abundance of what looked like primitive equipment inside. There was a medium sized humanoid in the structure using the equipment to produce a version of The Frequencies that they had never experienced……

Jerry

Jerry was having a normal morning noodling on his bass. Pot-bellied, balding, but with a friendly and welcoming aura about him Jerry was a fixture of the community. Way back in his thirties after some nominal success in the music industry it seemed like a good decision to open a guitar shop/music store/hangout/recording studio in rural Quebec. In hindsight the business plan was pretty half-baked, just like Jerry, but it was a peaceful existence.

The same couple of dozen customers hung around randomly never really spending any money, just hanging out and jamming.  Occasionally bands from Quebec City, Tres Rivieres or even Montreal would pay for some studio time as Jerry was cheaper than just about anywhere else. The price was justified however, as the effort Jerry put into recording horrible French-Canadian rap or the latest cute 20 something with an acoustic guitar and some angst was commensurate with his rates.

Through the door stumbled two of the craziest… people? Jerry had ever seen. Tall, skinny, massive weird shaped heads one shaped like a cylinder and the other like an upside-down pyramid, and the noses… WTF. They didn’t appear to be wearing clothes, and their skin was all white or black with opposite color polka dots. The noses freaked him out… along with the conspicuous lack of…. genitals, like a Ken doll kind-of.

They seemed to be speaking to each other in some sort of sound like a broken fax machine and moving awkwardly around the shop knocking things over.

Jerry had done a lot of LSD, and smoked a lot of things in his life, so trusting what he was seeing was taking a considerable amount of effort.

The pyramid headed one now had an electric bass held with the neck pointed to the floor the strings facing towards his face running his long straight out nose across them. The sound was seemingly making it happy. The cylinder headed one was very interested in the sounds coming out.

Jerry was frozen for what felt like hours, but was probably a minute or so. Alien or not he really couldn’t afford them breaking any instruments, he hadn’t turned a profit in a very long time. Jerry worked up the courage to gently take the bass from its hands, put the strap over its giant head, and hand the instrument back to it correctly.

Jerry gestured to his hands on the bass and played a short riff. As his was plugged into a small amp the sound greatly excited the two… beings.

The pyramid headed one immediately started mimicking Jerry slapping away at the strings, but as the bass wasn’t plugged in it looked dissatisfied with the results. Jerry quickly unplugged his bass and plugged the amp into its bass. The amp hissed with feedback, but then the pyramid headed being started learning in seconds what Jerry had taken years to master. As it experimented with moving its hands on the neck and plucking and strumming it was churning out some of the sickest bass riffs Jerry had ever heard. The timing was unlike anything Jerry had ever heard and the control of the notes it was making was almost mind bending. It was playing sounds in between notes that Jerry had never heard. The control was…. Inhuman.

The cylinder headed one seemed to be soaking in the music in an almost trancelike state waving its arms out to the sides like it was doing the wave.

The pyramid headed one stopped playing suddenly. The beings looked at each other and made triangle shapes with their hands held up above their heads. A sound like the fax machine talking came from both of them, but to Jerry it sounded oddly friendly and relieved.

Khn and Klek

The unease and dissatisfaction reduced incredibly. With the primitive equipment and the help of the humanoid Khn was able to make enough of The Frequencies to replenish a fraction of their Genki. The immediate concerns of ceasing to exist left them. Now they felt incredibly tired, and desperately needed their rest chambers.

Zhykhnletti rest chambers were just small dark rooms with nothing in them. The Zhykhnletti would assume the rest position with their arms crossed across their chest, stiffen their body, and lean backwards against the wall. They would stay in this position in a semi-conscious state until they naturally were ready to re-animate. There were no days and nights on Zhykhnklek as the rotations took so long, just light seasons and dim seasons. With multiple stars nearby, it was never completely dark.

Klek saw a small portal on the other side of the structure. He opened it and saw a small, dark and cluttered area. Khn knew immediately what to do. They entered the modified rest chamber, assumed the rest position, and shut down.
