I always found Deity to be impossible and assumed I just wasn't good enough to play at that level, but this morning I finally pulled off a Diplomatic victory with Frederick Barbarossa on turn 283. It was massively satisfying, particularly since I managed to build a MONSTER of a civilization that was absolutely roaring and I was crushing everyone on basically every level:

14 cities, 218+ pop (all ecstatic)
2300 gold pt
1300 science pt
700 culture pt
16 wonders built, including 3/4 in Atomic Era
Capital city had 33 pop with 274 production pt. It was completing entire space program projects in 2-3 turns (on Standard speed).

I also had all of the space race-oriented Great People and was clearly on an unstoppable path to crush a science victory. Oh, and the only other civs who could even hope to slow me down were all under alliances so there was literally no fear of invasion or sabotage.

God, I love this game. I wish I could bottle this feeling!
