For a few weeks I've noticed occasionally when at a stop, pressing the accelerator causes there to be a brief (like half a second) lull before the car pulls forward.

Then last week backing out of my driveway (it's on an incline) the car stalled, shut down and the battery light came on. It started fine after I restarted. I remembered when getting an oil leak fixed about a year ago mechanic said my battery was still ok, but probably would need to be replaced in the near future. So I replaced the battery, but yesterday the same stall and shut down. Based on my googling, it appears to maybe be the alternator then.

Does this seem likely to you experienced folks?

I've booked an appointment with my mechanic for next week, but I was planning to drive out of town this weekend.

Looking for replacement parts online, I see a $260 Chinese alternator I can order on Amazon, a remanufactured one from PartsSource for $430 or a $680 one from Napa. Is there likely to be a major difference in quality between these options?
