What's the single most painful part of report card season for you?

Report card prep starts again in a few weeks and I'm already bracing for it. Comment banks that read like form letters, mark entry across systems that don't talk to each other, trying to thread curriculum expectations through every comment, late nights re-wording "Sarah is a pleasure to have in class" 50 different ways. Personal computers have existed since the 80s and report card season still feels like 1995.

A few questions for fellow teachers (or anyone — pretty sure this misery is universal):

  • What's the single worst part of report card season for you? Comments? Mark entry? IEP alignment? Something else?
  • What does your board mandate (Aspen, Markbook, MyClass, etc.) and what do you actually rely on on the side?
  • For anyone using ChatGPT / Gemini / Copilot for comments — does it actually save time, or does it just shift the work to editing?

Curious to hear how other teachers are coping.

Landlords who've filed an L1 — what was actually the worst part?

Building a tool to help small landlords prep their own L1 evidence. I keep reading that the LTB tosses ~29% of cases before hearing for paperwork issues. For those who've filed an L1 — what was actually the worst part of the process?

Appreciate any feedback!
