I scored a really nice 55 gallon long tank from someone needing to get rid of it. I currently have my axo Strawberry in a 20 gallon long that has been cycled along with two filters and a chiller. He's almost a year old and I've noticed that he's been having growth spurts and exploring his tank frequently in "hunting" mode, and he does his "cave diver" thing where he wedges himself in spots just cause and I'll find him in another place later as if nothing happened 💀 This had me believe that a tank upgrade would make him even more comfortable!
But point being, I'm looking for guidance on how to upgrade him to the new tank successfully. I know I'd have to cycle the new tank, but how do I go about it? I know taking some filter media would help boost the bacteria but I also don't want to disrupt his current enviroment. And when he is in the new tank do I just toss his current tank water out completely or could it be mixed in with the new tank? Sorry if these questions seem obvious, I'm new to this and don't want to make any life-threatening mistakes when moving him over.
