My Dad wants full code but he is so weak he wont survive
This is prolly mainly a sigh into the void but maybe you have some words of wisdom or comfort.
My dad (89) is getting weaker and weaker and is sleeping most of the day. I’ve asked him several times what he would want if his heart stops or he becomes unconscious every time I ask him he says he wants to go to the hospital go emergency treatment. he is so weak already. There is no way he would make it out of their alive, plus he is dependent on almost weekly blood transfusions.
He never wanted to address this when he was less ill, and now that we’re getting closer to the end, it is heartbreaking for me to consider that he wants to end up in the hospital (potentially suffering from the full code experience) instead of having a peaceful passing at home.
I know he doesn’t like the hospital; he has said he wants peaceful death at home in the past… but now he mostly says he wants us to call 911.
