My 4 year old is extremely smart. Always has been.
She has picked up on reading a few words that she should not have any inclination on even knowing what they say. (EXIT, being one of them)..
She will be starting school soon. She can not read.. she knows certain words like cat and dog. And well EXIT
She recognizes patterns (like Minecraft) and she knows her whole alphabet. More than 30 signs.
The problem im having is I am trying to work with her on learning to actually read. Sounding things out. And trying to get things to stick. She is definitely my child. Hyper active. Can't sit still. And has a hard time focusing. That I can deal with. What is starting to really piss me off though. Is when she knows something. But acts like she doesn't. For instance.
CAT. im breaking it down for her. She can sound out each letter. Knows what each one is..knows that is how to spell CAT. but acts like she doesn't.
Ive seperated the letters and broke it down for her literally as simple as possible. She will get through it all and then ask her what it says.. ZEBRA. OR Elephant. Or giraffe. Everytbign except for cat. At this rate I am taking her tablet and she wont be getting time with all these dumb ass videos kids are watching these days. Because I dont want her watching all these brain dead videos.
I need help. I will admit ive ended up losing my temper a bit because she acts like she doesnt know the things that I know she knows.... I dont want to lose my temper with her. I hate that.
What can I do to get her to pay attention and focus. And ACTUALLY HELP HER TO LEARN.
