I snagged this gorgeous Targhee fleece first thing at MDSW on Saturday. It earned a pink honorable mention ribbon in the finewool category and feels amazing to touch. So springy with tons of crimp. Targhee is my favorite breed to spin, and they only had two available this year, so I was thrilled to find it.

I’ve been reading a ton and debating methods. Currently I think I’ll try the strainer kitty litter pan for washing and scouring with Unicorn Power Scour, working in small batches to preserve lock structure, then hand comb with some extra fine Valkyries on loan from a friend.

I’d appreciate any kind words, motivational hype, and wisdom or suggestions before I dive in!

Alrighty, long story short, what’s the best way to source a LARGE amount of a yarn (CoBaSi DK) that no stores carry in large qty?

Long story long below!

I‘m planning to knit my wife a large blanket using the Yukon Tapestry pattern for our 5th anniversary (Oct 2027). I’ve swatched in CoBaSi DK and I love the stitch definition, feel, and machine washability. It’ll be pricy for the quantity I need (at least 30 hanks of 2 colors each, if not a little more), but she’s worth it. This will cover the top of a queen bed.

Howeverrrr. As someone who’s only made baby blankets, I didn’t think about yardage and sourcing before trying and loving this yarn. It’s not a large blanket acrylic available in quantity anywhere. I’m a little stumped. How can I get my hands on it?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I’d also gladly accept suggestions for other yarns I should consider trying if they have stellar stitch definition, can be machine washed/dryed, and won’t destroy my hands (looking at you, 100% cotton). A unicorn, I know. I’m not necessarily opposed to acrylic, but I want it to be nice and not pill a ton.
