Hey everyone.

So I believe this is a part 2 of a thread a made last week. In a different subreddit

So a simple breakdown of what's going on

Person asked me for 100 last week (believe it was Monday) at first I agreed because he told me it was to go toward a downpayment and that the landlord wouldn't show the place to anyone.

Then fast forward 24 hours later I'm told they already removed the ad for the apartment so I'm thinking ok I don't have to give him any money now.

Fast forward another 24 hours (,Wednesday) he brings up the $100 again. I told him what for? He said they need it so I can move in and they won't show it to anyone else.

I then told the guy that he told me they already removed the ad and that he was already approved for all his startup costs (1800). So why does he need 100 from me

He started getting all defensive and telling me to delete his information. So I did and didn't contact him since

Friday rolls around and he leaves a voicemail of threatening nature on my voicemail because his number is blocked.

I call the cellular provider Saturday morning to report him for using his phone for illegal use which is a violation of terms and conditions.

I also called the police for advice. They just said people will use threats to get what they want. Told me to block the number and cease all contact.

Monday I get my buyout package from my ex employee Rogers.

This morning I receive emails of threatening nature all because I wouldn't give him 100$ to move into a place last week saying he will beat me to an inch of my life and call my employer to tell them what a bad person I am for not giving them $100 to move last week.

What more can I do here ? Police don't seem to take threats seriously unless the harm is already done.

Ok. So I'm in Alberta Canada for those who want to know

So a friend/acquaintance claims to found a place to live. Yay I'm thinking right?

Right off the hop it's really shaky.

He calls me up saying he's found a place then asks me a huge favour of $100 to pay them to take the add off Kijiji or Facebook.

I say yes. As I'm excited for him and want to help him out but I forewarn him that it will take a few days to move funds between banks.

At this point he already mentions that he told the landlord that he'd have it for Tuesday. I state that's impossible. He gets all sour then says well ok. Wednesday then. I tell him it will be in when it gets in.

Fast forward to today. I found out the $100 was supposed to be a few to remove the ad. But they ended up removing the ad without the hundred dollars so I'm immediately thinking ok so the hundred is no longer due.

Then the one who's trying to move into the new place tells me his worker has approved the first and last payment for 1800. So I'm thinking to myself " ok well if that's the case why can't they just take the 100$ out of that?". I ask him that and he gets all defensive because I'm second guessing this whole $100 deal.

He's saying things to soften me up such as I'll find a way. Don't have to send me the hundred. Etc etc etc.

Then I tell him I feel I'm being used. And he tells me that he doesn't lie or use anyone yet I'm still waiting for a payment of $30 from him.

Meanwhile I told him I caught him in 8 different lies within the span of 5 days. The topper was when he contacted his landlord AFTER I met up with the guy trying to move in saying the funds will be transferred by Wednesday from HIS account when it's actually coming from mine.

The other lies were to another potential landlord where he said he was going to be working on the 5th. Then the 8th. Then on the application for the place he said he worked where I work. And expected me to be a referral.

Needless to say that landlord never contacted me as I expected as I'm sure he saw through my acquaintances lies.

So realistically. Am I the asshole here for protecting my money?
