MacBook upgrade advice for dev work (Air M5 24GB vs Pro M5 16GB)

Hey everyone,

I’m a web + mobile app developer and trying to decide between two MacBook options:

Current machine: MacBook Pro M1 (2020, 16/256)

Main issue: I constantly run out of memory and have to manage apps/tabs every day.

My workload:

  • 1–2 Node.js backend servers running
  • 1–2 React frontends running
  • Occasionally (weekly, 6-7 hours max) Android/iOS emulator
  • External monitor most of the time, but sometimes I work outdoors on laptop

My options:

Option 1: MacBook Pro M5 (16GB / 512GB)
Option 2: MacBook Air M5 (24GB / 1TB)

Reason: they cost same and in my budget

My thoughts:

  • I don’t do heavy long builds all day, but I do keep multiple dev servers running
  • I don’t really care about screen difference since I mostly use an external monitor
  • Portability is a plus, but not a dealbreaker

My confusion:

  • Is the Pro worth it mainly for sustained performance + fan cooling?
  • Or is 24GB RAM on the Air the better long-term dev experience?
  • I’m leaning toward RAM over chip tier, but not sure if that’s the right call

Would love to hear from people doing similar dev workflows (Node + React + occasional emulators). What would you pick and why?

Coming back to Fiverr after 4 years – worth it in 2026?

Hey everyone,

I’m considering returning to Fiverr after a 4-year break. I still have an old profile with ~20 reviews and one web dev gig that already has a few ratings.

I currently have a full-time job, but with rising expenses, I’m looking to earn extra through freelancing again.

A few things I wanted to ask:

  • How is Fiverr these days for web/mobile development work?
  • Any recent tips or strategies that actually work now?
  • Should I update and reuse my existing gig (web dev, ~9 reviews) or create fresh gigs from scratch?

For context, I’m a full-stack developer (React, React Native, Node.js, MongoDB, SQL, Jamstack, etc.). I’ve worked on a lot of projects over the years, but I’ve always struggled more with getting consistent clients than with the actual development work.

Would appreciate any honest advice or current experience from people active on the platform.
