This is a question that strikes me.
I feel people underestimate the length of time out of world beings may of existed before they finally got the technology to travel through space and get to us. Our concept of spaceships and even airplane travel doesn't date back that long. But aliens could have been advanced way longer - thousands and thousands of years. And naturally have been able to develop technology to travel space for unknown speed and distances. While we're still very primitive.
