Help me choose: LG 34WQ73A-B (34" ultrawide) vs Dell S2725QC (27" 4K) for trading setup
My setup: MacBook Pro + iPad
What I do: I trade static charts, enter orders — nothing fancy. No high-frequency order flow scanning or rapid scrolling through Level 2 books. I want a clean single-cable USB-C setup.
I've narrowed it down to two very different monitors and can't decide:
Option 1 — LG 34WQ73A-B (~$400)
- 34" ultrawide curved (3800R, basically flat)
- 3440 x 1440 (QHD)
- IPS, 60Hz
- USB-C with 90W power delivery
- Built-in KVM
- 4.6 stars / 3,700+ reviews
Option 2 — Dell S2725QC (~$350)
- 27" flat
- 3840 x 2160 (4K)
- IPS, 120Hz
- USB-C with 65W power delivery
- No KVM
- New model, fewer reviews
My dilemma: The LG gives me way more horizontal screen space for tiling charts side by side (21:9 ratio). But the Dell has sharper text at 4K and will scale perfectly with macOS (retina-quality at 27"). The LG at 1440p ultrawide can look slightly soft on a Mac.
For those of you trading on a single monitor with a MacBook Pro — would you rather have the extra width of a 34" ultrawide, or the sharper 4K clarity of a 27"?
