Little Tokyo NIMBYISM

There’s an ongoing effort from the Little Tokyo Community Council and from other progressive groups to stop and limit all development in Little Tokyo that isn’t subsidized affordable housing. The 4th & Central mixed use development replaces warehouses with thousands of housing units a couple blocks away from the station.

Their complaints include:

- too tall (tallest building will be 30stories)
- too many market rate luxury units
- only 16% subsidized units (84% market rate)
- displacement of legacy businesses
- increased traffic
- inadequate open space

Isn’t this exactly the type of transit oriented development that we should be supportive of?
