Hi Reddit users. it’s my first time posting here. I would like to ask the fellow people here about the second hand car I’m considering to buy. I’m eyeing to buy either X50 or X70 but I prefer X70. I know the fuel consumption for these both cars are very high (around 8-12l/100km). But I prefer more spacious cars.

There’s one X70 that I’m considering to buy. It’s a 2022 1.5 Executive version that I saw from Mudah. Decided to give the shop a visit to see the car. The car looks okay externally but it’s a bit dirty internally. Everything looks good. But the second hand shop seller doesn’t allow to test drive as he is afraid that we might damage his car while test drive. He only allows test drive after we pay a small fee as deposit. He also keeps assuring that his cars are the cheapest in the whole Malaysia and there’s no second hand car shops that can match his price. He keeps assuring that the car is both major accident and flood free. Seeing from the way he talks makes me kinda believe him but at the same time, I’m also wary. Because I could not decide to buy at the time, I decided to pay RM500 to him as a deposit to book the car.

After I went home, I decided to check on the car since I already know the car number plate. Since it’s 2022 car, the car should be under the 5 year warranty from Proton. But when I check the car service record in Proton via a Proton sales agent, it seems that the car last serviced in 2023, which means that this car’s warranty should be void.

Based on the story above, since the car’s warranty has already been void, should I still consider to buy this car or should I buy other cars? I’m currently having a dilemma. I’m afraid that after I bought the car, then there will be major problem to the car which I will need to fork out a large sum or money. Btw I will mostly use the car for city drive .
