Tradie says they cannot finish job, leaves. Demands full payment.
I'll keep it brief:
Tradie harassing me for payment of unfinished work. In Victoria.
Cost is double to repair what they left me with.
Without working light switches in 2 rooms. The switches were working when we asked them to do replacements for purely aesthetic reasons.
They have threatened legal action and have told other people in their industry that I am awful and hurting a small business etc.
Can they successfully sue over this?
Are we obligated to pay them more than the $150 deposit they already have? They did a couple of other small jobs at the same time.
I was willing to pay an extra hundred to get them off my back but now they are threatening us I don't know what to do.
They want the remaining $400. One of the switches is uncovered and dangerous with sharp (but unconnected) wires poking out. They have cut me and drawn blood. They apologied at the time for leaving us without a cover but that they could not work out how to fix it..
This was supposed to be a small job and now it looks like it's becoming a legal battle. Unsure how to proceed.
