So I have this thing where I refuse to buy any of the fragrances in what I consider to be the “corny” bottles. I just don’t like the look of them and I don’t want them on my dresser. It ruins the aesthetic and, simply put, I just flat out think they’re ugly.

That being said the fragrance inside smells good most of the time, even if it’s not my choice for fragrance. Objectively, they smell nice. But those bottles. Those gyat damn bottles 😤

Examples.
- The Caroline Herrera heel and lightning bolt bottles
- The paco rabbane gold brick bottles (The atomizer being ass is the cherry on top)
- The jpg bottles
- The rabanne phantom (I do think this one is pretty cool actually; I just don’t like it as a fragrance bottle. It’d look better on my collection figurine shelf)

I know I know. It’s really dumb to avoid a fragrance because of the bottle. Idc. I hate them. Call me dumb

Love fragrances. Always have (so much axe when I was in ms/hs) and of course I naturally went on to regular fragrances. I’ve been diving into them a bit more and have been enjoying finding out about brands I have never even heard of.

I am curious to know from people who have been into the more niche houses longer. If there was a spectrum for non niche to niche. How would you do it? And what brands/houses would you put in those categories?

For example (and I’m making this up on the spot):

designer - designer niche - trendy niche - niche
Chanel - Armani/Prive - Byredo - Zoologist

Would there be an “ultra niche”? Just curious on people’s perspective on things and also would like to learn about some houses I have yet to check out!

I love finding out about new fragrances. But it really irks me when I go to the big, “higher end”, department stores and they don’t have certain fragrances on hand to smell. So many are online only! (Although I am sure location plays a role on stock)

Of course they have the big designer brands on hand, and SOME slightly more trendy niche brands. But even some of the more niche stuff from designer brands is never on hand! It’s madness I tell ya! Armani/prive for example. Never seen it in a store.

Memo Paris Madurai was my most recent hiccup. Did my research and it seemed like something I liked and I went to smell it at Neiman Marcus. It’s only online 🙃

Anyways, I’m curious to hear from you guys! What are some less mainstream brands/scents you wish were more readily accessible without having to order from a sample site? (Hate blind buying)

Some brands I really want to sniff but have never seen in stores.

- Argos: neptunes trident & birth of Venus
- Memo Paris: Madurai, Ithaque
- Armani/Prive: the entire lineup honestly (the yulong is in my top 3)
- BDK: Gris Charnel, Citrus Riviera
- Nishane: Wulong Cha
