Course Drop
Hello everyone, I'm in bit of a pickle. So basically I did pretty bad in semester 1 but still got into UofC CS - I got 68 in English 30-1, 76 in Physics 30, and 95 in Math 30-1. I got accepted around 2 weeks back. Now the thing is in the beginning of the semester I registered to redo English 30-1 through Vista Virtual and Physics 30 through Golden Hills. Me being to smarty I am didn't realize the workload at the time, but during this point of the semester its really getting to me. I have Math 31, Chemistry 30 and Social 30-2 this semester. Now the thing is I've already dropped Physics, but I'm contemplating whether I should continue with English. I have a 93 in Math 31 and 87 in Chemistry 30. Meaning if I carry out these grades till the end of the semester, I would have a 83.8 average with my previous English and Physics grades. Now the problem is that I'm past the withdrawal date for English, but the teacher told me that I can walk away from the course, meaning I don't do rest of the course work nor the diploma. The catch is that it would show the attempt in my transcript, but won't have a mark. I talked to my counsellor and she said that walking away won't have an affect on the final decision regarding my English grade. The competitive listed on the website is low 80's. When I got accepted my average was 80, meaning my final average would increase by roughly 4%. Do you guys think walking away from English is the right choice or would staying in the program benefit me. I think the highest grade I would be able to achieve is ~73% after the diploma. Please let me know what you guys would do in this situation. Thank you for reading 🙏
