So a bit of a context😭😭😭
My sister and I owes an apartment in UK and she rented one of the room out to a woman (lets call her Alex) via some website called spare room.
Legally Alex is not a tenant but I am not sure how to refer her properly, so I will still refer her as a tenant whenever necessary.
I did not know about the whole room-renting thing at first and I wasn’t too happy about it cause I understand that it would be hard for me to manage these matters when I am living abroad and my sister is not capable of handling these matters alone. And well… shit happened.
Alex stopped paying rent for 2 months, and when she finally was willing to leave the apartment today and handed the keys to my sister. Alex and her two other friends wouldn’t leave and insisted my sister to pay her her deposit, which was about half of the monthly rent. And obviously we didn’t agree to pay her her deposit back, as technically she still owed us money. She kept insisting that she would not leave without the keys/ deposit. Thank god she decided to leave when I asked my sister to call the police. ( My sister put me on speaker so I could listen/ speak to them).
But after 5/6 hours, she messaged my sister and said she was currently at the concierge and would call the police (she didnt) unless my sister gave her the apartment key/ deposit. She also kept insisting to meet up with my sister in person.
My sister is now thinking of meeting her in person (which I do not agree, as my sister is short and very skinny and for lack of a better word, could easily be manipulated , and she is alone since her boyfriend is currently out of town)
My sister is also thinking of giving Alex the apartment key (which I disagree as well, cause why would you give a chance for someone to enter your home??).
What should I do😭 I tried to act strong and standup for both me and my sister but I am panicking right now. Any help would be appreciated!
