update on Melvin

i wanted to make an update to thank everyone who commented on my original post for all the kind and helpful responses. as of this morning melvin is with a rehabber and getting proper care! it was very hard to see him go but there’s a chance we’ll be able to release him back into our yard where we found him and see him thrive. even if not, i’m thankful we were able to do the right thing for him :) thanks again everyone 🐿️

are there any common diseases we should be on the lookout for?

as he’s getting bigger his claws are getting sharper and beginning to leave lots of marks when he climbs on our arms. he also nibbles (very gently, he hasn’t broken skin) since he’s weaning. he’s healthy since we’ve been feeding him, but i’ve read that they can transmit some sicknesses and just want to make sure my family and (separated) pets are safe!
