So, I've been seeing this girl for a month and some, we met on hinge and then it was going pretty good so we're meeting up to watch stuff, hang out(mostly at my place, this will become important later). I have been thinking of asking her to be in a more committed relationship since she seems to be leaning towards that and showing interest.
So when we first met like she told me her interests are like plants and watching dramas, and then I'm a big nerd right? I love anime and gaming and pokemon and usual nerd shit so I ask if she also did any of that, and she said a little bit but not that much.
So these few weeks also I've been playing co-op games with her and trying to watch some anime with her and she seems to be having fun casually in the hobby. I even made her a new league of legends account and we played games versus bots together.
Today I visit her place for the first time and it all seems normal. It's clean and nice, our plan was to put on a drama maybe and watch that.
Then I see a small figure of that kid from I believe Vinland Saga on her balcony with her plants. I personally wouldn't consider that a "beginner anime" if that makes sense, if she was as low investment as she said she was then frankly this is not in the list of shows I would expect her to have come across.
Idk why but I got immediately suspicious, so I ask her about it. She looked a bit nervous and said her friend recommended her the show and she really liked it so it was a gift from that friend. I accept this explanation, until afterwards when she shows me around her house and her room and WHO do I see there under the computer screen. A FIGURE OF TEEMO (from league of legends).
Are you kidding me. Of course I ask about it. And she kinda realised the jig is up and admitted she had played league at some point but stopped playing like a year or so ago. Oh my god this woman made me teach her how to farm minions when she knew all along. I ask her about her peak rank (she outranks me. By a lot).
Then I ask her about the anime. The pokemon. Gaming in general. Apparently she does all 3 regularly and are significant hobbies in her life. She then went on to admit that she did doesn't like telling people that she's a gamer or a nerd (there was nothing on her profile that even indicated this) because if that's the first thing people see on her profile she tends to get matches that would either quiz her about it or stereotype her.
Honestly, those are reasonable reasons, but also it really doesn't sit right with me that she was just going to hide it? I ask her if she would have told me at some point and apparently she just figured she would ease into telling me it. I'm kinda bummed that I was a plat league player trying to teach an ex-master rank player how to play the game. And that we sat through anime she'd already watched.
I let it go that night then I went home still with unresolved feelings about the situation and so I'm not sure if I should still ask her out. I guess I'm trying to figure out if the lying should be a big deal? She's texting me and apologizing but I haven't been replying as much and I don't know what to do about the situation. Would appreciate some advice.
