First time Data/AI AE (and consumption based)

Coming from erp/hcm and landed a role with Snowflake. Any tips on succeeding in this kind of role? Coming from a software and seats-based conversations to data/ai usage based model. Is discovery deeper technically? Is value proposition different? Any insight would be appreciated.

Was looking into a role where you have a book of 50-70 existing customers in the commercial org, and expand on that footprint.

How did AE’s do against their quota here? What are the main driving factors/main expansion plays that they live off of? How quickly are you shown the door if operating right away?

I’m moving to ATL for work in a couple weeks. I’ve never been to ATL, and know nothing about it. I’m coming from Nashville (Midtown).

With my job being in Buckhead Triangle, what neighborhoods should I consider? Taking into account commute, cost, and overall vibe. I’m 25M and engaged, we enjoy going out, going to dinner, and she enjoys walking/coffee shops/pilates type stuff.

I’ve been a BDC since winter of 2023 for a large software vendor selling into retail industry (HCM, ERP, SCM, etc). I’ve been a “top performer” in this role, but there’s obviously much more to a deal cycle.

I’ve managed to secure an offer for Mid Market Expansion AE at a top tier company. Just by talking the talk and having confidence, but I’ve never actually closed a deal in my life. It’s a completely different product set, and I’m curious if I’ve overdone myself.

I’ve always been a fake it til make it, just do sh*t kind of guy, but I’m curious what this looks like in reality. How big is this gap truly? Am I better off staying an SDR where I’m at to save myself from relocating to Seattle and getting fired? Is it possible for someone to go from meeting setter to expanding real business just by working harder and being fully bought in? What is the hardest part of this transition?
