I got my little Banana (6 months old) for 2 weeks now! Lovely and healthy breeder ensured he was taken cared of. Assisted me and is responsive to my queries which I appreciate but I feel like I'm constantly pestering her given she cares for more than just geckos so I cannot blame her!
So far 4 days into getting my crestie settle he ate no problem! got to give him meal worms and on day 5, 6 and every other day he would keep eating probugs insectXfruits blend no problem and actually i think around day 6/7 I offered him a dollop on the sachet (while I held it) and he lunged, ate for a bit and hid away. So far he has been pooping regularly and eventually I want to transition to full bioactive maybe after a few weeks
Day 16 tonight (never attempted any handling), I offered again and he would bite and this time licked it a few times even behind a snake plant. Truth be told I was excited but I do wanna be more confident at the idea of handling him not only for bonding but also to ensure I can transfer him in a smaller container during cleaning and for health checks.
ironically I am a little anxious myself but at the same time wanting to be more confident in handling Banana ! Any tips and insights into his behavior would be nice(is he just shy? stressed? skittish?) . the previous owner said I try to finger feed (puree on finger) but i know he will lunge and take a bit bite haha
I just worry at the idea of my crestie bolting out of his enclosure when I eventually would attempt to scoop him up (breeder had an experience where he did bolt out after she accidentally spooked him by adding a bamboo pole in his enclosure). so far he tends to hide after meals but he eats every other day with 1 day fasting
thank you for reading me in advance and for the advice <3
I know there are many videos out there but maybe I just need reassurance given the context !
