My Akai GX 210D has an issue where it will crackle very loudly when recording at 7 1/2 ips. It doesn't do this at 3 3/4 ips, and I have no idea what the issue is. I regularly clean the heads, and it isn't a problem with the tape (I've tried several different tapes). I've also tried the tape selection switch on the machine to no avail. I've attached a link to some audio examples so you can hear the problem. This is driving me nuts and I'd greatly appreciate any help! Thanks so much.
