Who actually uses their benefits? Does anyone have plans for the future?? + Benefit advice plz :)
I've worked at Walmart for a short period of time and have done pretty extensive searching to find comprehensive breakdowns of what Walmart's benefits are and how to use them effectively. 90% of the employees I talk to or seek info from on benefits don't hardly know what I'm talking about. From what I can find, I'll be able to use the 10% associate discount card with the additional 5% cash back from the OnePay card right? I haven't said anything that states otherwise and it seems to be pointing in that direction. I signed up for the OnePay card immediately because while at least currently it's not my primary source of shopping, I inevitably buy a thing or two due to convenience and the card gives an additional 2% cash back vs my AMEX blue card. Heck this will be my last year with a Costco membership because the 15% is HUGE. I told this to a coworker and they went, "I have no idea if you can use them together but that would be cool I guess. I can't believe you'd cancel your Costco membership. Costco has bulk. And better deals on muffins. My family loves those muffins." Look I haven't confirmed the numbers but surely the Costco "bulk" prices can't be equal to the 15% off??? Muffins???? BRO😭 I wanted to pick the brains of some of the older associates (anywhere from 5-15 years) about stocks or 401k and most haven't even started investing anything????
90% of employees goof off, don't use their benefits, and boob about everyone and everything else. Walmart isn't a golden goose but gosh I'm gonna use the stepping stones in front of me. I'm even thinking of really seeing how far I can make it here because most employees are either clearly abusing some sort of substance (which affects are still present at work sometimes), incredibly lazy, incredibly cranky, or just straight up have zero ambition.
I've met a few amazing people here who seem like they really just live to work because they have no desire to use the tools at hand or grow in their roles. WHY????
PS: I've peeked at the min/maxing guide to the stocks and 401k plans and I LOVED it. If anyone has any other tips or tricks to really using Walmart for all it is I'd love to hear!
Are you using the discount + OnePay? Does it work?
