AITA for missing my week with my son because of an emergency with my wife
I32M have split custody of my 8 year old son with my ex. I get my son every other week. Last week my wife was expected us to have our baby, I had made arrangements with my ex to have our son during this, but to bring him after my wife had the baby, and he could come when he we got home, so our week would end up being shorter. My ex was already annoyed by this.
When it comes time, my wife had complications and so did our baby. We were in there 4 nights, and after that my ex still expected me to take our son for this. I explained to her that this really wouldn’t be a good time, for him either. We wouldn’t be able to spend much time together and it was a sensitive time with our baby and my wife recovering. She got mad at me, said I was going to make him feel less important and said she always thought I’d be this kind of guy to choose my “new family.” I explained to her that wasn’t the case and she got mad and said it doesn’t matter what I say it’s only what our son thinks. I tried FaceTiming twice, so I could see my son but my calls were ignored and my son doesn’t have his own phone so it was her. I messaged him on his iPad, but didn’t get a response back either. AITA
