My parents are old and struggling to maintain the farm yards around our two neighboring farms. There are two main yards, I’m dreaming of connecting the two and having a path cut between them, or getting two or more robotic mowers. Both yards are complicated and 1500-2500 m2. (See pictures- I want to cut the red, I need to cut the blue, a path would be green).
Main concern:
My main concern is the sloped hill and uneven ground. It’s more grass around our house than a lawn. The yard has stones, walk paths, bushes, trees, gravel, flowerbeds, cows have stampeded across it creating craters, and no fences.
System:
As we are up in the mountains and there are houses all around the farm yard, I’m afraid RTK won’t reach far enough around the yard unless I use several antennas all around the houses and hills. I have no idea how many kilometres of guide wire you’d need to encircle our farm yards with all the nooks and crannies, so system wise I’m thinking LiDAR and just put no-go zones all around the fields and forests to stop it wandering off. I want a robot to keep the flattest parts in check before I have time to mow it properly.
Options:
I was thinking about the Dreame A3 AWD pro, mainly because of AWD, can ‘handle’ slopes up to 37 degrees (80%), I like the idea of LIDAR as far as I understand it. Then there is MOVA LiDAX Ultra AWD 3000, Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD which I also consider. I looked into the Segway x420.
What should I get? Any advice, thoughts to consider and input would be appreciated.
I would love to connect the two yards with a walk path or to be able to move the mower and swap maps in the app. Is it doable?
Should I buy something a lot cheaper and just have a bunch of them on all flater parts of my yard with terrain wheels?
Or should I just accept defeat and die on my hill with a regular lawn mower?
