What is missing?
28M here. I’m an introvert, average looking (5'10", fair with hair 😅), from Karnataka.
Last year I got lucky and cracked a remote job paying around 75 LPA fixed. Instead of staying in Bangalore, I moved back to my hometown (it’s a proper city, not a village) to live closer to my parents since they’re senior citizens now. They’re financially independent, so it’s more about being around family while they get older. We also have around 12 acres of farmland, so overall life feels peaceful and stable.
I’m not flashy about money and genuinely prefer a simple, low-key life. I started looking for a bride through matrimony apps hoping to find someone from an IT background who also values family, stability, and a grounded lifestyle.
But after 3 months, most conversations seem to end the same way — either ghosting, or clear preference for Bangalore city life, independent living away from parents, frequent international travel, highly lifestyle-driven expectations, etc.
I’m not against travel or enjoying life at all. In fact, I can comfortably afford those things too. But I sometimes feel social media has influenced our generation into constantly chasing a certain “ideal lifestyle” — where peace, family, stability, and slower living are seen as boring or settling.
Maybe I’m old-fashioned for my age, I don’t know.
Has anyone else felt this disconnect in matrimony apps?
